Asier Arzuaga

Trayectory

A qualified Telecommunications Engineer (ETSIIT Bilbao 1999), with an Executive MBA from Deusto Business School (2012). His career began at Hewlett Packard, Ericsson and Tecnalia, with various technical-commercial positions. He moved to the ZIV group in 2002, where he was in charge of the technical part of the company and the development of the Smartgrid product range. He became director general of the ZIV Metering division, responsible for BT and MT products, with responsibility for activities in various countries, including the opening of plants in India and France. After his time at Aclara (Hubbell) as global technology VP, Aitor was appointed CEO of IBIL (2018), an electric vehicle charging technology and services company in Spain and Portugal, belonging to the Repsol group. After four years in that position, and witnessing the notable development of the sector, in Aitor was appointed CEO of ALBA Emission Free Energy in 2022, a new Petronor company for the development of its energy transition businesses. This includes the development and operation of renewable hydrogen production plants, synthetic fuels, waste reuse, and development of renewable energy communities.

Aitor is also co-founder and strategy advisor of Asimob, a startup that develops technology to make roads safer based on artificial intelligence. Aitor also holds the position of Chairman at Edinor (part of the Repsol group) and has been a director at Elto Iberia (part of Grupo Renault).

Aitor has more than 30 technical publications and 2 patents in the field of smart electrical networks, electric vehicles and industrial communications. He is a member of the board of directors of the College of Telecommunications Engineers of the Basque Country, and a Senior Member of the IEEE.
